Editorial Policy
🇹🇷 Bu sayfayı Türkçe oku This page defines the editorial standards, source selection criteria, and error correction procedures of the mycovita.bio Mycelium Library. Version 1.0 — April 2026.
1. Mission
mycovita.bio aims to serve as the most comprehensive, transparent, and scientifically rigorous reference for functional and gourmet mushroom literature in Turkish. The content published here is not a promotion of a food product; it is the Turkish-language counterpart of the fungal bioactive literature.
2. Editorial Independence
mycovita.bio is funded by MYCOVITA, a biotechnology company. This is openly declared. Funding does not influence content decisions. No article uses language that encourages the sale of MYCOVITA products. No scientific finding is distorted to serve MYCOVITA’s commercial interests.
When an article cites MYCOVITA’s production practices, this is explicitly stated, and alternative approaches from other producers are also listed.
3. Source Selection Criteria
Sources used in content production are evaluated according to the following hierarchy:
- Primary sources: Peer-reviewed studies indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane systematic reviews, monographs (WHO, EMA, Health Canada).
- Secondary sources: University publications, academic books, national health authority reports (FDA, EFSA, Turkish Ministry of Health).
- Tertiary sources: Industry reports, certification body publications, manufacturer white papers (only when verified by other sources).
Blog posts, social media content, and unsourced “expert opinions” are not used as references.
4. Evidence Level Labeling
Every scientific claim is presented with its evidence level:
- In vitro: Effect observed in cell culture — cannot be generalized to humans.
- Animal model: Observed in mice, rats, or other model organisms — not directly transferable to humans.
- Preclinical: Limited human data available, Phase I/II.
- Clinical: Phase III randomized controlled trial available.
- Approved indication: Use accepted by an official health authority (e.g., PSK in Japan).
The phrase “studies show” is used only when accompanied by a specific reference.
5. Health Claim Policy
No mushroom or compound is described on mycovita.bio using terms such as “treats,” “cures,” “prevents,” or “eliminates.” In compliance with the regulations of the Turkish Ministry of Health and the Advertising Board, health claims for food supplements are prohibited. This prohibition is also adopted as an ethical stance.
Instead, phrases such as “is being researched,” “observed in in vitro studies,” and “discussed in the literature” are used.
6. Conflict of Interest Declaration
Articles are written by Kemal Tutkun and Katya Tutkun (founders of MYCOVITA). No author receives payment from external sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, or certification bodies. When third-party products are referenced, any commercial relationship between MYCOVITA and that manufacturer is disclosed.
7. Error Reporting and Correction
If an error, missing source, or outdated information is identified in an article, it can be reported via the contact page. Corrections:
- Typographical errors: Corrected silently.
- Scientific corrections: A “Correction note — [date]” is appended to the end of the article, and the change is clearly stated.
- Source updates: When a new meta-analysis or systematic review is published, the relevant article is updated, and the “Last updated” date is refreshed.
8. Version Control
Key articles display a version number, last updated date, and the number of reviewed sources. This practice follows the model of Wikipedia and major academic reference sources.
9. Use of Artificial Intelligence
In the preparation of articles, artificial intelligence tools may be used for literature summarization, translation, and structural editing. However, no article is published entirely as AI output. Every scientific claim is verified by a human editor against primary sources.
10. Copyright and License
Content from mycovita.bio may be quoted with attribution to support the dissemination of functional mushroom knowledge in Turkey. Direct copying requires permission. For academic or educational use, requests can be submitted via the contact.
